Raised & Raising Generations in Green Tree
Janice Adamski
Jan lives and breathes commitment to Green Tree. Not only did Jan grow up here, she grew her own family here, and now gets to be grandmother to the newest Green Tree generation.
In addition to living here, Jan also worked in the Borough Administrative office for 24 years. In this role she supported the work of all Borough Departments, worked alongside commissions and boards, and organized countless volunteer opportunities for residents and students. After retiring from her role in Green Tree, she also served as the Borough Manager of Heidlberg and Crescent Township until 2024, when she decided to retire for good.
Jan’s expansive experience in local government gives her in-depth knowledge of the ins and outs of caring and advocating for Borough residents. Through the compassion in her heart, and the proven record of action, Jan illustrates the dedication and care she believes runs deep in our community. She believes in leading by listening, collaborating, and building relationships to ensure that our community can move forward together and unite towards a common goal.
Now that she is officially retired, Jan can often be found enjoying nature and spending time with her children and grandchildren, and the friends she’s made in Green Tree through the years.

She leads with compassion and the belief that society wins when we lift up everyone. She believes in affording people dignity and understanding and respecting the wishes, beliefs, and cultures of everyone.

When not working, Deborah can be most often found getting muddy with her kids on a hike, cooking a needlessly complicated meal, or curled up on the couch with a cozy blanket for a Netflix binge.
Committed to Green Tree since 2010
Shannon Barron
Shannon currently serves as President of Green Tree Council and has been a member of Council since 2022. She is proud of the progress made in the Borough during this time; most notably the installation of a new playground at Rook Park and ADA accessible bathrooms in the Borough building. Additionally, she is excited to have created a new Council Committee: Community Engagement & Communication, focusing on the future of our community both in-person and virtually.
As a public librarian for 15 years both at the Green Tree Library and at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Shannon carries a deep understanding of the many challenges and stressors individuals and families are facing today. To her, community means action: working together, supporting each other in times of great need, making tough choices, and celebrating what makes us unique.
Shannon and her husband, Russ, have lived in Green Tree since 2015 with their children, Jake and Zoe. Plus, the two newest additions to their family, a pair of tuxedo cats: Piggie and Gerald.
In her spare time, you’ll often find her reading, crocheting, crafting with her children and neighborhood friends, volunteering with the Civic Club or her alma mater Allegheny College, or dreaming of her next vacation.
